Where did summer go? We hope you and your families have been enjoying the last few weeks of warm weather and sunshine! Here at Meals on Wheels we are gearing up for the fall and winter months, an always busy but enjoyable time.
This summer returned some normalcy to our operations as we welcomed back our wonderful volunteers. We continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and are following guidance on the spread of the Delta variant. Despite these realities, it has been so nice to see some of you return to deliveries. We continue to welcome back our old volunteers and also some new faces. Please stay in touch with us to let us know how you have been. We look forward to a safe and festive fall season.
Special Thanks to Volunteers Stephen & Su Cheng
AC Units Bring Cool Air to Clients
It’s been a terribly hot few weeks for all of us here in New Jersey. The heat can be especially tough on our seniors.
MOW volunteers Stephen & Su Cheng made the summer heat a little more bearable for some of our clients with a special donation of new AC units. The air conditioning units were delivered by staff and volunteers to the clients’ homes just in time for the August heat wave.
Welcome Back Volunteers
We continue to welcome back our volunteers to safely deliver meals to our clients. All volunteers are required to wear masks. Please contact Executive Director Shareka Fitz if you are interested in volunteering at mowgnb@aol.com.
Meals on Wheels Receives Generous Donation
For “Underage” Clients
Parker Life donated $20,000 to help feed five “underage” clients for a year with additional expenses. Meals on Wheels in Greater New Brunswick is grateful for this donation that will enable us to assist disabled clients who are younger than 60 years old but can still benefit from the Meals on Wheels meal program.
