Dear Volunteers,

Meals on Wheels in Greater New Brunswick is continuing to confront this challenging time with the help of volunteers like you and through the generous support of our community. This summer, we are serving our clients without interruption and providing an important lifeline to our homebound seniors who are most at risk during this pandemic.

As we look forward to the time when we can all meet again, we applaud the service of new and old volunteers as well as our caterers at Elijah’s Promise who are preparing our frozen meals. With fresh produce deliveries for the next seven weeks, we are confident that together we will weather this storm and come out stronger than before.

Thank you all for your continued support during these uncertain times. We value you and hope to see you all soon. Please read the rest of our summer newsletter to hear updates on our clients and services.

MOWGNB Statement on Black Lives Matter

Racism is a public health emergency and moral crisis in America. Meals on Wheels in Greater New Brunswick stands with all people demanding an end to racism and injustice.

Meals on Wheels stands with the Black community in denouncing the police murder of Mr. George Floyd and others and violence against people of color. We are saddened and angry that the killing of unarmed Black lives continues to plague us, divide us, and be an obstacle to real change in America. Many of our senior clients have lived with racial oppression for decades. Meals on Wheels in Greater New Brunswick has been working to ensure that our policies and practices combat institutional racism and to make a better and healthier world for our seniors.

Update on Volunteers & Fresh Produce Deliveries

Beginning in July, MOWGN is delivering fresh produce to our seniors.

The fresh produce deliveries are in addition to our regular meals and will be scheduled every other week for seven more deliveries.

We need volunteers for these deliveries as well as our regular meal deliveries moving forward. At this time, we are welcoming back all of our volunteers with updated safety measures and guidelines in place. We hope you will join us, when you feel comfortable, in continuing to serve our community’s most vulnerable members, our seniors.
