Dear Friends,
This year has been challenging for all of us. We want to assure you that our mission to provide nutritious meals to our senior homebound clients in New Brunswick, Highland Park and North Brunswick has not waivered.
Since March, our 100 volunteers have been at home and our meal supplier has worked on a reduced schedule, so, while we deliver less frequently, we include a combination of freshly-prepared hot meals, frozen main dishes and shelf-stable meals. This summer, clients also received fresh produce.
We are grateful to community and corporate volunteers who have assisted with deliveries including LogistiCare, Superior Office Systems, Rutgers medical students and associates, NJ Youth Corps and Highland Park COPE.
We have hired a temporary part-time employee to help with meal delivery, procurement of PPE and client communication. Because in-person safety checks are not possible, our staff communicates daily with clients by telephone.
Your donation is crucial to maintain the nutrition and health of our homebound seniors. Any donation will be appreciated. For perspective, $72 will provide nutritious meals to a homebound senior for five days. Many companies match contributions; if available to you, please follow your
company’s matching gift process.
You may send a donation or make a gift online at www.mowgnb.org
Thank you for your help in alleviating senior hunger at this critical time.
I encourage you to also forward this appeal to your friends and neighbors with the hope of increasing support for our vital community service.
Very truly yours,
Harriet S. Worobey, President
